Genshin Impact 3.2 Update Spiral Abyss: Overview, How to clear 36 stars

Genshin Impact 3.0 Update introduced a whole change in the Spiral Abyss from Floors 9 to 12 to accompany with the new reactions and metagame changes, due to the introduction of Dendro. In this guide, we will explain the new changes in the current Spiral Abyss, how to clear them in the current Genshin Impact 3.2 Patch Update, and the most optimal teams that can be used.

Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss: Overview

Spiral Abyss is a domain that can be located at Musk Reef in the Mondstadt and is unlocked when players reach Adventure Rank 20. The first 8 floors are the Abyss Corridors which are currently unchanged and these rewards can only be claimed once. After passing Floor 8, Floors 9 to 12 are Abyssal Moon Spire. These Floors are re-playable and reset every 15 days. In big patch updates like 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, each Floor mobs and Ley Line Disorder are changed completely. While in smaller patches like 3.1, 3.2 only, Floors 11 and 12 change in terms of Mobs and Ley Line Disorders.

Each Floor has 3 Chambers with a first half and a second half in each with each Chamber containing 3 Stars to be reached fully. Hence, players will need two built teams to send in for the challenges. Furthermore, each Floor has a limited run-time in which the less time they take to clear the Floors, the more Stars they will be obtaining. A total of 36 Stars can be obtained fully.

Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss Changes

From Floor 9 to 12, each Chamber of the respective Floors will have a total run-time of 10 minutes to complete the challenges. In order to 36 Stars the Abyss, players need to finish Floor 9 to 11 (Each Chamber 1 and 2) in 300 seconds (5 minutes). While For Floor 9 to 11 (Chamber 3) and the entire Floor 12, players will have to finish the challenges in 420 seconds (7 minutes).

How to clear Floor 9

Ley Line Disorder: DMG Dealt in the explosion of Dendro Cores produced by characters Bloom reactions increased by 125%. DMG dealt Burgeon and Hyperbloom reactions triggered by characters increased by 125%.

  • Floor 9 has a large variety of enemies in all Chambers that would be spread out in every place upon starting the challenges. Players should sure to bring an Anemo Crowd Control character such as Kazuha, Venti or Sucrose in order to group the enemies together and save a lot more time in the meantime.
  • In any case, if players are unable to bring an Anemo CC character, it is best advised to start the floors by running to the walls, so that the enemies can follow you and stay grouped together.
  • Floors like 9 and 10 are somewhat on the easier side of the Abyssal Moon Spire. They don’t necessarily need to bring Dendro-related teams or characters in the Abyss to take full advantage of the Ley Line Disorders.
  • Bringing a Pyro and/or Geo character in Chamber 2 is advisable for the shield-breaking of Hilichurls and Abyss Mages. Speaking of the Abyss Mages, the aim is to defeat them first, as those mages will activate the Slowing Water debuff which increases the cooldowns of the characters in the party.

Optimal Team Comps to use on Floor 9

Floor 9 has many small mobs in both the first half and second half. It is recommended to use Venti, Kazuha, Sucrose or even Jean in at least one of the teams. No team comp is limited here and hence any team party can be used on both floors. Although using a Pyro-based team in the first half can be good, since the mobs mostly consist of non-pyro enemies. For the second half, Cryo based teams can be used for the most optimal clearing.

Ley Line Disorder: When Spread or Aggravate reactions are triggered on opponents, DMG done by these reactions will be increased by 75%.

Chambers

  • Players try to defeat the two Kaigaris at the same time in Chamber 2 or else one of them will heal fully. If the other gets defeated first and so more time would be wasted to kill the other Kaigari.
  • Defeat the Thunderhelm Lawachurl first in Chamber 2 second half, as it enables the Engulfing Storm debuff which makes the on-field character lose Energy in their Elemental Burst. Using a Cyro or Pyro character is recommended.
  • In Chamber 3, one of the enemies will have the Slowing Water debuff activated. Hence, one must defeat them quickly to stop the debuff. Players should kill the Hydrogunner Legionnaire first, as they can heal the other enemies and activate their shield. Afterwards, they can go for the Pyroslinger before it starts its shield.

Optimal Team Comps to use on Floor 10

Just like Floor 9, Team comps are very flexible in Floor 10. For the First Half and the Second Half, any team comp without Electro ones can be used to clear the Floor. Players must make sure to have an Anemo CC character in the first half such as Venti, Kazuha or Sucrose. Cryo, Hydro and Pyro DPS units can be used. Players can also use Dendro to enable Dendro reactions related to Electro such as Quicken, Aggravate, Spreadetc with Nahida, Tighnari, Collei and Dendro Traveler.

Ley Line Disorder: Electro DMG increased by 75%.

For the First Half, players should bring an Anemo Crowd Control (Kazuha, Venti or Sucrose) character to the party for the influx of mobs that will be spread around. In the second half, single-target DPS characters like Hu Tao or Yoimiya are recommended.

Chambers

  • Chamber 1 is a Ley Line Monolith challenge where players need to protect the Monolith from enemies by defeating them all. Players need to save it at least before it hits below 60% for a 3-star clear run.
  • For the first half of Chamber 1, players use an Anemo CC character to group the mobs quickly, in order to, prevent any damage to the monolith. For the second half, they cannot displace the mobs.
  • Primal Constructs are one of the new bosses added in the Desert region. In order to defeat them quickly, players should bring an Electro character (Raiden, Cyno, Fischl etc.) and/or utilize Dendro reactions like Aggravate and Bloom.
  • Avoid the Smoldering Flame (on-field character takes continuous pyro damage) and Slowing Waters debuff by targeting the mobs, who are enabling them such as the Pyroslinger, Desert Clearwater and the Mirror Maiden. It is also recommended to defeat the Hydrogunner Legionnaire first to avoid them healing the other enemies on the field and activating its shield.
  • For the mobs that cannot be displaced by Anemo CC, players should go behind them and run towards the walls so that they are grouped together. Remember to kill the Kaigaris together in the first half of Chamber 3.
  • It is recommended to use an Electro character on the Jadeplume Terrorshroom to defeat it more effectively. Once electro is applied to the enemy, it will enter a rampage state for a short amount of time till the Terrorshroom collapses down in exhaustion making its resistance to all Elements, except Dendro fall to 0%. Players should use that opportunity to quickly finish the boss off. Pyro characters can also be used for the boss although smaller enemies such as shrooms will spawn as a result.

Optimal Team Comps to use on Floor 11

floor 11 teams
Raiden + Xiangling + Kazuha + Bennett (First Half)

Kazuha is a great Anemo CC that can group the enemies together and provide Elemental buffs to the party with the swirled Element. If Kazuha uses the ViridescentVenerer set he can also reduce the Elemental resistance of the swirled element on the mobs. Bennett can boost attack to Raiden and can funnel Energy to Xiangling for her Burst. Xiangling acts as a sub-DPS for Raiden while Raiden uses her burst to deal huge amounts of damage to the enemies while also acting as an Energy Battery for the other party members. Using a concise rotation can result in a fast clear run.

Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Yelan + Zhongli (Second Half)

With the new change to Hydro Resonance (20% more HP to all party members), Hu Tao indirectly received a buff and have a new Meta team to use in the Abyss. The second half relies on having a good single target DPS which Hu Tao easily checks it out. Zhongli provides shield support and keeps Hu Tao from taking damage as she is vulnerable due to her HP drain. Xingqiu and Yelan’s Burst both activated can apply Hydro to the enemies and provide Hu Tao strong Vape reactions to use.

Ley Line Disorder: For this floor only, the Ley Line flow will be normal.

Genshin Impact 3.2 Update Spiral Abyss Guide Floor 12
  • There are many optimal teams that can be used on this Floor. Freeze teams can be used in the first half for keeping the enemies’ groups for a short amount of time. The first half of all the Chambers also needs strong DPS characters that can defeat enemies in large AoE (Area of Effects) as the enemies have a high amount of HP.
  • Single-target DPS characters can be put in the second half. It is highly recommended to bring a strong Electro unit in the second half for some of the enemies to be defeated more easily in the Spiral Abyss of Genshin Impact.

Chambers

  • Chamber 1 first half is the same as the other previous chambers where you need an Anemo CC character to group some of the enemies while also making sure to kill both Kairagis at the same time before one of them heals. With the Primal Constructs, hit them with Electro to make them more dissectible to damage or take advantage of Dendro reactions such as Bloom or Quicken/Spread.
  • The Eremites Stone Enchanter and Galehunter both summon a creature to battle once they hit below 70% HP. Defeat the summoned mobs so that the Eremites get stunned for a brief moment making them vulnerable to taking damage.
  • In Chamber 2, the first half of the enemies spawn at the same time. Therefore, it is recommended to bring a solid DPS character that can inflict damage in large AoE.
  • The second half on the other hand has the Maguu Kenki in the Abyss. The Maguu Kenki’s attack patterns and mechanics work just the same as in the Overworld. The only difference is the high amounts of HP the boss has at Level 95. If players are not familiar with the dodging patterns and find it difficult then it is highly recommended to use a shielder in the party such as Zhongli, Diona, Thoma or Noelle. Similarly, using strong single-target DPS is advised.
  • Chamber 3 First half is fairly easy with four Bathysmal Vishapspawning at the exact same time. Be sure to bring an Anemo CC character to group them all together. Note that some of their attacks can drain your active character’s Energy which can mess up their Elemental Bursts so make sure you dodge their attacks or use a Shield.
  • Just like the Maguu Kenki and Jadeplume Terrorshroom, the Spiral Abyss added another Overworld boss in the last half of Chamber 3 Floor 12 called the ‘Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network’. With a total of a whooping 2.2 Million HP, no doubt clearing this boss within 3 minutes will be tough. This is why a strong DPS with a well-rounded team is highly needed (Especially if the team has a strong Electro unit). Using Electro on the boss will shorten the time it takes to defeat it and if your team party allows it, bring a Dendro unit to utilize the Dendro reaction ‘Quicken’ as it is the fastest way to break the invisibility.

Optimal Team Comps to Use in Floor 12

Ayaka + Kokomi + Kazuha + Shenhe (First Half)

For the First Half, the Ayaka Freeze team will be best to use. Kazuha can swirl and group the enemies together. Kokomi is the best Hydro Applicator to use for the Freeze reaction. Shenhe’s Burst and E have the ability to significantly boost Cryo Damage for all party members and with Ayaka can activate the Cyro Resonance (20% increase in Crit Rate for characters affected by Cryo). Ayaka is one of the best DPS units in the game and can easily inflict large amounts of damage on both single target and AoE with her Burst and Charged Attack.

Raiden Shogun + Xingqiu + Xiangling + Bennett (Second Half)

Raiden National is one of the most popular teams used in Abyss for both F2P and P2W players. The second half consists of enemies with Electro weaknesses. Hence, Raiden can easily defeat them with the help of Bennett’s attack buff and both Xiangling and Xingqiu’s support capabilities.
