NetEase to benefit from the game art development expertise of Star Painters
Star Painters has been operating since 2018 and the studio is currently headquartered in Wuhan, China. The studio employs more than 300 people and it is mostly involved in the development of AR/VR educational games.
The studio’s expertise lies in game art production and they have created art for Hoyoverse’s Genshin Impact. Apart from that, they have also worked with NetEase Games on some of their popular titles like Onmyoji, Minecraft Mobile, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, and Identity V.
Star Painters takes care of some of the most important aspects of game development like art design, 3D modeling, and motion effects. The studio also has its own R&D department where they do extensive research work to enhance its VR/AR game development. Previously, the company has applied its VR/AR tech to launch VR interactive games on Chinese national Treasures like the Sword of Goujian and Chime bells of Marquis Yi.
Final Thoughts
NetEase is expanding its sights on the overseas market for quite some time. In August this year, the Chinese gaming giant acquired the indie game studio Quantic Dream. The investment in Star Painters is also a huge one given that this studio has handled the complex artwork of a AAA game like Genshin Impact.
