The dual Bug/Steel-type Pokémon from Generation II has finally arrived in Pokémon Unite. Those with access to the Public Test Server, have already tried and showed mixed reactions over the Pokémon. In the game, it is a Melee-type Physical attacker with Intermediate level difficulty of control. Also, it would depend on the player, whether to evolve Scyther into a Scizor or not. This mechanism is quite unique in perspective to this game. In this guide, we will take a closer look at the best battle items, and abilities, including tips and tricks to play Scizor and its previous form Scyther in Pokémon Unite.

Pokémon Unite Scyther and Scizor Movesets
Bothe Scizor and Scyther are the melee-type all-rounders with a lot of offence and mobility to boast about. It has a 4.5-star Offense and 4-star Mobility, which is a perfect mix of Allrounder and Speedster alike. However, its scoring and support are a bit low, but perfect builds can complement easily. Here are the moves that Scyther and Scizor have in Pokémon Unite.
Basic Attack
Scyther– The skill becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing additional damage and increasing the players’ movement speed for a short time.
Scizor– The skill becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, decreasing the movement speed of the opponent when it hits. It further increases the user’s Defense for a short time, which can stack.
Passive Ability- Technician (Scyther)
After this Pokémon uses a move, its next basic attack will change and deal with two consecutive Basic attacks instead. The second of these deals with decreased damage.
Ability 1 – Fury Cutter (Scyther Only)
- Type-Melee
- CD- 5s
This Bug-Type move has the user slash twice with its scythes in a cone-shaped area, dealing damage. The second slash deals more damage than the first.
Ability 1 upgrades at level 5
Scizor and Scyther would have different Ability 1 upgrades. If players do not choose not to evolve Scyther, it would have a different skill than what a Scizor would have. Basically, if you choose Bullet Punch at level 5, your Pokémon evolves into a Scizor, otherwise not.
Dual Wing-Beat (Scyther if not evolved) | Bullet Punch (If Scyther evolves into Scizor) |
---|---|
The skill has the user slash in front of itself with both of its scythes, dealing damage to the opposing Pokémon in an X-shaped area of effect. If this move deals damage to an opposing Pokémon in the centre of the X-shaped AoE, it restores the user’s HP. If the move hits, this move can be used again, within a set time. In such a case, the player dashes to the designated area, dealing damage. The lesser the opponent’s HP, the more the damage in such a case. Type- Area CD- 5s |
This steel-type move has the player dash in the designated direction and strikes opposing Pokémon with tough punches. If this move hits opposing Pokémon, its cooldown is reduced, and the user recovers a portion of its HP, based on the amount of damage dealt. If Bullet Punch is used again within a set time, the number of punches and the amount of damage dealt increase. The number of punches increases from three to a maximum of five. Type- Melee, Dash CD- 8s |
Upgrade: The skill increases the Damage Dealt. | Upgrade: The skill also grants a shield, if this move hits opposing Pokémon. |
Ability 2 – Quick Attack
- Type- Dash
- CD- 8s
The skill has the user dash forward in a designated way, dealing damage to opponents who make contact on its way.
Ability 2 upgrades at level 7
These moves would be available to both forms, irrespective of whether you evolve them or not.
Double Hit | Sword’s Dance |
---|---|
The user jumps towards the enemy, marking it and dealing damage. After it hits, the user again jumps in a designated direction, and when it hits, the next basic attack becomes a booted one, while the user charges the enemy. Once the marked Pokémon gets knocked, all the user’s moves CDs are reset. Type- Dash CD- 7s |
The user dashes for a short distance, increasing its attack power for a short time. When the Attack Power is increased, the eighth Basic Attack becomes an AoE attack, which pierces through the opponent, in a line, dealing damage. Type– Dash, Buff CD– 9s |
Upgrade: The skill reduces the move’s cooldown. | Upgrade: This skill also reduces the damage the user receives while dashing. |
Scyther or Scizor: Unite Move
- Green Illusion Dive(Scyther): The move has the user dash and attacks an enemy. It creates 5 illusory copies of Scyther. These copies deal damage to any opponent Pokémon it comes in contact with and applied a mark on them. The copies then return to the user. If the move is used again within a set time, the copies again deal damage to the opponent. The marked Pokémon, if knocked out, reduces the cooldown of Scyther’s moves.
- Red Illusion Dive (Scizor): The player dashes and punches the designated opponent, dealing damage and reducing their movement speed. With the last punch, five copies of Scizor appear, which deal damage and reduce the opponent’s speed for a short time. If used again within a set time, the user dashes towards an opponent and punches the ground, dealing AoE damage. While dashing, if the user holds an opponent, it carries it with it. If in this case, the opponent hits a copy of the user, it is left stunned for a short time.

Pokémon Unite Scyther and Scizor Gameplay Tips
Our Pokémon Unite guide also contains the perfect gameplay strategy for Scyther and Scizor. Hence, do read till the end.
Early Game
Early into the game, choose Quick Attack for a better experience against Wild Pokémon. If possible, players can use it to steal the jungle from the opponents. If they opt for the bottom lane, players must hunt down the Indeedees for more Exp. and prioritise fighting with Fury Cutter. They can score quick goals for stacking, and use Quick Attack again to retreat quickly. They can focus on dealing damage with their Basic Attacks too. The builds we suggested encourage the use of basic attacks. This is a quick combo suggestion for pressuring or taking down opponents during the early game. At first, start by engaging the target with Quick Attack and get close. Once the player is close, they can use a Standard Attack to deal two hits. Finally, finish the combo by activating Fury Cutter. If the target is still alive, players can continue bombarding them with Standard Attacks.
Upon reaching level 5, they can make their own choice to go for either Dual Wingbeat or Bullet Punch. In case they remain Scyther, try this combo after opting for Dual Wingbeat. Firstly, players must start by activating Dual Wingbeat at range to deal damage. Then, they can use Quick Attack to get close to the target. Once within range, deal at least 2 Standard Attacks must be used. Next, they can use Dual Wingbeat‘s second activation to stay close to the target or to reposition. After that, players continue to deal damage with Standard Attacks.
Late Game
In case they choose to evolve at Level 5, remember that they might not be having the best mobility in the business, but their endurance might be better. Hop on to your opponents with Bullet Punch, engage in team fights and remember to complete the map objectives. Players must take on the Regileki and the bottom Regis together. Remember to stick together with a tanky Pokémon to help with the Assassin-based gameplay. Try this combo with Scizor- Start by engaging the target with Bullet Punch, followed by a Standard Attack. Then, reposition with Quick Attack. Stay in the fight and hit the target with at least four (4) Standard Attacks until Bullet Punch‘s next activation is available.
Try this Unite move combo with Scyther by activating Sword Dance or Dual Hit to get close to the target. Once you get close, immediately follow it up with a Standard Attack to deal two hits. Then, activate Green Illusion Dive, followed by a Standard Attack. Next, hit the target with the full two (2) activations of Dual Wingbeat. After dashing, immediately use Green Illusion Dive‘s second activation to recall all illusions and make them hit the target for extra damage. Then, bombard the target with Standard Attacks and activate your moves until the target is knocked down.
With Scizor, try this combo by activating Sword Dance to get close to the target. Once you get close, immediately follow it up with a Standard Attack to get the double hit. Then, activate Red Illusion Dive, followed by Bullet Punch. Next, hit the target with at least two (2) Standard Attacks before using Red Illusion Dive’s second activation. For the best value, make sure to knock back the target towards an illusion to get the extra stun effect. After that, activate Bullet Punch again and another Sword Dance when it is available. At this point, bombard the target with Standard Attacks and activate your moves until the target is knocked down.
Positioning of Scizor
The priority should be the top or bottom lane, especially since Scyther is decently strong enough for early battles and stacking. If playing in the Theia Sky Ruins map, go for the bottom lane. However, the Middle jungle also suits it, if nobody else takes it.
Scizor with other Pokémon
Our Pokémon Unite Scizor guide would also talk about the relationship between Scizor and other Pokémon.
Best synergies with Scizor
These Pokemon would be the perfect synergy for Scizor, especially in the game earlier.

Wigglytuff | A Pokemon which evolves early can help Tyranitar in the bottom lane with moves like Sing to stun opponents. |
Mamoswine | The freezing moves and tanky Defender can be a decent partner for the Pokemon. |
Pokemon which are strong and weak against Scizor
Pokémon that Scizor counters | Pokémon that counters Scizor |
---|---|
Mew | Zeraora |
Decidueye | Slowbro |
Pikachu | Talonflame |
Talonflame | Aegislash |
Garchomp | Dodrio |
Pokémon Unite Scyther/ Scizor: Tips, tricks and strategies
Our Pokémon Unite Scizor guide includes the perfect game plan for the early and late games during the Unite battles.
- The choice of whether to evolve Scyther or not, depends upon the player. In case, their team lacks a decent speedster for the jungle, remain a Scyther throughout.
- To stack the Defense, players must keep hitting opponents with Basic Attacks (with Scizor).
- They can adapt to the assassin-styled gameplay if one wants to contain with playing with this Pokémon.
- Players must keep in mind that, with Scyther, the moves are much like Speedsters. However, Scizor is more for durable gameplay.
- Use Dash moves to retreat or pounce upon your opponents. Such moves help in not selecting Eject Button, and going for some other Battle Items, like Potion or x-Speed.
- Level up fast enough to help in team fights. Scizor can be a pretty good 1v1 Pokémon, but solo play isn’t recommended.
- Lastly, players must avoid using it much in Ranked Matches until they master all of its moves and playing style. They should use offline mode or Standard Battles as their Practice Arena.
