Netflix, one of the biggest streaming services out there, is now getting even more serious about the gaming sphere that they’ve been working on for a while now. They have now announced a new internal Games studio in Helsinki, Finland.
For a while now, Helsinki has been the host to many game development studios, like Supercell and Rovio, bringing in quite a bit of talent. Therefore, it makes sense for Netflix to set up shop there with this new project and get the brightest mind to work with them.
Netflix is building the foundation for their games for the coming years
It should be interesting to see what Netflix does with an Internal Games Studio. They’ve already acquired Next Games for $72 Million earlier this year, along with Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment, so their upcoming games should show plenty of promise. Off late, we’ve already seen some pretty good-looking titles like Into The Breach, Before Your Eyes, and very recently OXENFREE.
For those unaware, Netflix has been offering exclusive games without in-app purchases and completely free to those with a Netflix subscription. This move would probably bring more quality titles to the service.
